The Move-written by Josh

“The heart of man plans his way, but the LORD establishes his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9

I am so thankful for God’s soveriegn hand in our lives. I am so thankful that He guides our every steps leading us in the direction that is most glorifying to Himself. I am thankful that God is about Himself and I find much joy in this. Melissa and I are moving in two weeks to another apartment complex in the metroplex. We had orginally planned on moving to a place five minutes from her work, and pretty snazzy if you ask me. But God has directed our steps in a different direction. We are now moving to an area that might not be as pretty, but is still very beautiful to us. We will be living in a complex where many refugees are placed by the US government. These families need assistance in everyday tasks, such as transportation, bills, schooling, etc. We are stoked to be used by God to be a light in their lives. But thats not all. We are moving to an extremely diverse area, where the population of Chinese is ranked 14th in the country. We hope to drench ourselves in this community to love, make much of God, and less of ourselves. Our plan was to be close to work, but God had a better plan. This is the beginning of a journey, this is a task that we will not take lightly, and God-willing, some may come to know who He is through His son Jesus Christ, by God, and for God.

So last night we were exploring our new neighborhood when we found a prized jewel in our eyes. To most, a grocery store means nothing more than a building with food, but less than a mile away from our new apartment is a Hong Kong Market. The shelves are filled with oriental goodies and the aisles are treaded by the people we have a heart for…how good is our God. We are thrilled and excited to look back and understand that when things don’t work out the way we planned, taking comfort in the fact that God is soveriegn and guides our steps, is of greater worth and eternally satisfying. His way=higher than ours.
